Miller is a seasoned litigator with experience in complex internal investigations, high-stakes government enforcement actions, and sensitive national security and cybersecurity matters. In his most recent role as senior advisor and deputy chief of staff at the FBI, Miller helped the FBI director and other senior government leaders navigate the most consequential national security, cyber and criminal incidents facing the country.
“William’s experience is extraordinary,” said Managing Partner Allen K. Robertson. “His background and knowledge in both government and private practice will provide our clients with superior counsel in navigating the complexities of today’s business environment.”
Miller will advise Robinson Bradshaw’s clients in high-stakes criminal and government enforcement matters; lead internal investigations across a range of industries; and represent companies in civil litigation matters, including alleged violations of the False Claims Act, misappropriation of trade secrets and employment disputes. He will draw on his recent government and national security experience to help clients respond to critical incidents and develop a strategic approach to complex, multifaceted problems.
Miller previously worked as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Western District of North Carolina and as a trial attorney with the Public Integrity Section in Washington, D.C. As a federal prosecutor, he led sophisticated white-collar investigations and successfully tried cases involving allegations of securities fraud, bank fraud, wire fraud, money laundering, criminal tax violations and public corruption. Miller also has prior experience representing individuals and businesses across a range of industries in private practice.
Miller earned his law degree with high honors and his bachelor’s degree with highest honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He served as a law clerk to Circuit Judge Albert Diaz of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
