What to expect
Simply put, we aim to provide our summer associates with a challenging and rewarding experience that is similar to life as a first-year associate. While working in our Charlotte office, you’ll gain exposure to many different practice areas, interact with clients, and get your hands on real work product and projects – no mock assignments found here. Our summer clerks also enjoy a wide range of after-hours activities from small group dinners and professional sporting events to whitewater rafting and a weekend retreat. These opportunities allow you to get to know the firm’s attorneys, and we also offer clerks-only events so that you can unwind and spend time with your fellow students. One thing you won’t be doing? Competing with the other members of your summer class. Our “one-firm firm” philosophy free of internal competition applies to you, too.
Our selection process
Once you apply to spend your summer with us, we conduct a short, virtual screening interview. This could also be your on-campus interview. Select candidates are then invited for a callback interview in our office where they meet with more than a dozen firm attorneys. We aim to provide the candidate with a timely response. We take great measures to be thoughtful and deliberate in our evaluation process, and we encourage our candidates to do the same when discerning the right path for their summer experience.
