Brent Torstrick represented Roof Above in the acquisition of a naturally occurring affordable housing property for $47.7 million. Roof Above acquired the 341-unit apartment complex with Ascent Real Estate Capital, made possible by a philanthropic public-private partnership. The property will have rent restrictions to ensure affordable housing for a range of income levels, and at least 20% of the units will be designated for Charlotteans facing long-term homelessness.
Roof Above is a Charlotte nonprofit organization offering a spectrum of homeless services and housing programs. Torstrick's pro bono representation of Roof Above was mentioned in a recent Charlotte Business Journal article about the transaction, available here.
