Five years after the start of the pandemic, remote work is here to stay. Even with some employers pushing for more days in the office, nearly half of skilled workers have or want hybrid roles. More than a quarter are or want to be in fully remote roles. With even one remote worker, employers need to address and minimize associated risks. Remote work presents special challenges for protecting confidential information; listing salary ranges in job postings; considering ADA accommodations; and complying with wage and hour laws, paid safe and sick leave laws, workers’ compensation coverage, unemployment insurance contributions, taxes and much more.
1.5 hours of North Carolina and South Carolina CLE credit and 1.5 hours of general HRCI credit pending. We can provide a certificate of attendance for those seeking out-of-state CLE credit.
During this program, Robinson Bradshaw attorneys Caleb Holloway and Katrina Hauprich will explore best practices and pitfalls for managing remote workforces, including in states where employers may have no familiarity with employment law compliance requirements. Attendees will learn strategies and methods for achieving compliance with or without a one-size-fits-all approach to policies. Whether your company is based in North Carolina, South Carolina or elsewhere, this program is valuable for employers who have even one remote worker.
