Ten local nonprofits received a free legal checkup Wednesday at an event sponsored by Robinson Bradshaw, in partnership with the Association of Corporate Counsel's Charlotte chapter and Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy.
The nonprofit organizations were selected after an open application process. Representatives from participating nonprofits met with Robinson Bradshaw and ACC attorneys to review governance documents and discuss any compliance issues.
"It is important for attorneys to find creative ways to help organizations that are doing good work in our community," said Ty Shaffer, a member of Robinson Bradshaw's Nonprofit Organizations and Foundations Practice Group. "These 10 nonprofits benefit from the same high-quality legal advice that the ACC's members provide to their companies and our lawyers provide to our clients every day."
This is the second consecutive year that Robinson Bradshaw, ACC Charlotte and Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy have hosted the event. This year's participating nonprofits were A Better World, Aspire Community Capital, Caroline Calouche & Co./Charlotte Cirque & Dance Center, Charlotte Moms of Multiples, E2D Inc., Heal Charlotte, Inspire the Fire Youth Fellowship, Metrolina Theatre Association, Refugee Support Services and Transcend Charlotte.
