Robert E. Harrington has been elected chair of the Arts & Science Council’s board of directors. His yearlong term begins July 1.

“ASC is fortunate to have Rob as its incoming board chair,” said ASC President Robert Bush. “He has proven himself to be an involved, committed and effective leader in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg cultural community. Those qualities will serve him well as he helps guide ASC in its evolution to become an advocate and resource hub that ensures all residents have access to arts and cultural experiences.”

Harrington has been a member of the ASC board for the past five years. His community involvement also includes serving as vice chair of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library board of trustees and on the boards of directors for The Greater Charlotte Cultural Trust and for Legal Aid of North Carolina. Previously, Harrington served as chair of the Levine Museum of the New South’s board of directors, president of the Mecklenburg County Bar and co-chair of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.

Harrington is a litigator at Robinson Bradshaw and chair of the firm’s Litigation Department. He represents corporate clients and financial institutions in a broad range of complex business disputes, including contract, trade practice, consumer lending and other business matters.
