Kate Gordon Maynard, general counsel at Robinson Bradshaw, discussed the Charlotte Legal Initiative to Mobilize Businesses in a conversation with WFAE. Maynard shared the motive for and goal of the new pro bono clinic.

“We recognize that supporting the small business and entrepreneurs in our community and helping them grow their business is hopefully a way to support economic development in some of the under-resourced parts of our community and further economic mobility in the Charlotte region,” Maynard said.

CLIMB provides pro bono business law services to low-income entrepreneurs and small businesses in the Charlotte area, with a focus on those whose ownership consists primarily of people of color, women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, veterans or people with disabilities. The program is an effort by the newly formed Carolinas Social Impact Initiative and is spearheaded by member firms Robinson Bradshaw and Moore & Van Allen. More information is available here.
