Julian Wright has been appointed vice chair of the North Carolina Equal Access to Justice Commission by Chief Justice Cheri Beasley. Wright has served as an appointed member of the Commission since 2015. His work on the Commission includes helping to establish and oversee the North Carolina Pro Bono Resource Center, as well as involvement with pro bono disaster relief clinics to provide legal assistance after hurricane devastation. As vice chair, Wright will focus on the Faith & Justice Alliance, an initiative that will partner with houses of worship to provide pro bono clinics in underserved areas, and train religious leaders to spot legal issues among their congregants and direct them to legal services providers in their communities.

The Equal Access to Justice Commission aims to expand access to the civil justice system for people of low income and modest means in North Carolina by coordinating the delivery of civil legal aid services. The Commission was established in 2005 and is structured to represent the diverse ethnic, gender, legal and geographic communities across the state.
