Robinson Bradshaw attorney John Wester will deliver a keynote speech on judicial independence at the Council of Chief Judges of State Courts of Appeal’s annual conference in Boston. CCJSCA is an organization of current, past, and incoming chief judges from intermediate courts of appeal across the country. This year’s conference theme is “Declare Your Judicial Independence.”

Passionate about preserving judicial independence, Wester is the inaugural chair of the American College of Trial Lawyers’ General Committee for Judicial Independence. The committee, which includes three federal judges, leads the College’s efforts in defending the judiciary from attacks and threats and promoting its independence. It was formed after a College task force – of which Wester was vice chair – released a white paper in response to escalating tensions in the public arena surrounding the independent role of judges and courts.
