Insurance Basics for In-House Counsel

Robinson Bradshaw attorney Steve DeGeorge provided an overview of key coverages and insurance policy terms, common exclusions, and recommended types and amounts of coverage based on the insured’s business model and risk profile. He also discussed common contractual provisions regarding insurance coverage obligations of contracting parties, filing claims with insurers (when and under what circumstances advisable) and disputing coverage denials. DeGeorge shared trends in COVID-related coverage litigation, the most dynamic and financially impactful area of coverage litigation since pollution coverage lawsuits in the 1980s.
