John Wester served on an expert panel at "Town Hall: Save Our Independent Courts." The event was designed to alert North Carolinians to potential threats to the impartial judiciary and fair courts during the January special legislative session and possible impacts on Triangle-area counties.

The event was free and open to the public. It was organized by the League of Women Voters of North Carolina and co-hosted by North Carolina Voters for Clean Elections, Democracy North Carolina and Progress North Carolina.
